Privacy Policy
Scope
This policy covers the Obol website and the appraisal call you can book through it. It does not cover records you license to us: those are handled only under a signed business associate agreement and license agreement, which set out their own protections.
Do not send us patient information. Leave patient names, medical records, identifiers and datasets out of booking notes, emails and any other message.
Who we are
Obol helps healthcare facilities earn from the records they already keep, by licensing de-identified data and by building agent apps from it. For the information described here, Obol decides how and why it is used.
What we collect
When you book a call. The calendar asks for your name, email address, phone number and answers to a few booking questions, and lets you add a note. It also records the time you choose and your time zone. There is no other form on the site.
How you found us. If you arrive from an ad, the link you clicked tells us the campaign, ad set and ad, where the ad was shown, and Meta’s click id (fbclid). We also note the page you landed on and the site that referred you. We keep this in your browser for 90 days so a booking can be credited to the ad that led to it, and attach it to your booking.
How you use the site. Pages viewed, which sections you scrolled to, how far down the page you went, time spent on the page, clicks on the appraisal and “See the numbers” buttons, whether the calendar opened and loaded, whether you booked, rescheduled or cancelled, and when you closed it.
Technical details. Your IP address, browser and device type, and the identifiers described under Cookies and local storage. Our hosting provider also keeps short-lived server logs.
How we use it
- to hold your appraisal call and follow up on it;
- to judge whether your facility is likely to be a fit;
- to measure which ads and which parts of the site lead to booked calls, and improve them;
- to run, secure and fix the site.
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Advertising and measurement
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram and use Meta’s tools to learn which ads lead to booked calls.
Meta Pixel. The pixel runs on every page. It sends Meta the events listed under How you use the site, with the ad details from the link you clicked, plus the standard information Meta’s pixel collects, such as the page address and your browser.
Conversions API. Our server sends the most important of these events to Meta directly too, so they are counted when the pixel is blocked. These copies include your IP address, browser user agent, Meta’s cookies and a scrambled (hashed) version of our visitor id. When you book, our server also sends Meta your email address, phone number and first and last name, each hashed with SHA-256 first so they are never sent in readable form, along with the ad details, the button you used and the time of the call.
Your booking note and your answers to the booking questions are never sent to Meta.
You can limit this through your Meta ad preferences, your browser’s tracking protection or a content blocker. Blocking it does not stop you from booking a call.
How long we keep it
- Booking details and messages: while we are talking with your facility and for a reasonable time afterwards, then deleted.
- Ad details in your browser: 90 days. The visitor id: one year.
- Server logs: kept briefly by our hosting provider.
- Information sent to Meta: kept under Meta’s own retention rules.
You can ask us to delete your information sooner.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Booking notices from Cal.com are signed and checked before our server accepts them, and personal details are hashed before they are sent to Meta. No website is perfectly secure, which is another reason not to send patient information through it.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what information we hold about you and get a copy;
- have it corrected or deleted;
- object to or restrict how we use it;
- opt out of targeted advertising and of “sharing” for advertising.
To use any of these rights, contact us as described below. We will not treat you differently for doing so. To stop ad measurement in your browser straight away, block or clear the cookies listed above or use the options under Advertising and measurement.
International transfers
Our service providers operate in the United States and other countries, so your information may be processed outside the country where you live. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by law.
Children
The site is for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
When we update this policy we change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say what changed on this page.
